I'll Catch You Before You Fall

(White  Blouse--Old Navy; Brown Belt--Forever 21;Orange Maxi Skirt--Forever 21;Oxford shoes--Forever 21;Bow Bracelet--Kate Spade)
This post is EXTREMELY late, but better late than never, right? On Thanksgiving my whole family went over the my aunt and uncles house for dinner. I decided to incorporate some fall colors into my outfit with this accordion pleated maxi skirt. I loved the mix of the light browns and the rust orange. I kept jewelry simple with only a dainty Kate Spade bracelet.

Hot Summer Trend: Crop Tops

Crop tops are one of my favorite summer trends. There are so many different types of crop tops, and so many different ways to wear them!

Here are some of my favorites that I found online:
This one is great because it is so different! It also incorporates two trends: Crop tops, and Fringe. The bright color is perfect for summer and the beach!

This crop top is very nautical inspired and would look amazing with red shorts! This is also a great example of a DIY! You can take any t-shirt you have and tie it in the front, and give it a fresh new cropped look!

This crop top is great for a fancier look. Of course, you shouldn't be wearing a crop top to a black tie event, but it would look great paired with nice shorts or a skirt for night out.

This crop top is much girlier than the others. The neck line is very beautiful and unique. This inspiration from the beach makes it wonderful for summer!

This crop top is great because of the nice floral pattern. It is also quarter sleeve, which is a nice change from the average short sleeve/tank top styled crop tops.

This last crop top is very delicate. This follows both the lace and the crop top trend. I love lace and crochet crop tops because you can pair them with either bright tank tops or they look good with nude tank tops.

There are many ways to wear crop tops too!

Here are some of my favorite ways to wear them:
  1. High-Waisted Shorts/Pants: This is probably my favorite way to wear crop tops. With high-waisted shorts/pants, you don't necessarily have to wear a tank top under the crop top, which personally, I think  without a tank top the crop top looks a lot better. High-waisted shorts/pants are also a huge trend and very chic.
  2. Regular Shorts: When you wear regular shorts, I would advise that you wear a tank top with regular shorts. Without a tank top, you will most likely be showing a lot of skin, which isn't the best unless you are going to the beach.
  3. High-Waisted Skirt: When wearing a high-waisted skirt with a crop top, you have to choose both very carefully. I think it is best to have either the top or the skirt be a very neutral color, and have the other be bright. This will even out the outfit, and it will look much more polished. If you want your whole outfit to be bright or neutral, make sure one piece is patterned. A nice pattern for the look is floral.

How to Make Your Own Crop Top:
  1. Find a flowing t-shirt, possibly oversized. Find one that you think will still look good as a crop top.
  2. Lay out the shirt so that it doesn't have any wrinkles.
  3. Make sure you know how short you want your top to be
  4. Take a rotary cutter and the cut in a straight line at the length you want your top to be
  5. If you want your t-shirt to have a lower neckline make a slit down the middle front of the neckline. Also make slits wear you want the neckline to open up in the front. Then connect the slits to make the front of the neckline lower. The back of the neckline should also be cut in the same way, but you should not cut the neckline as low as the front of the neckline.

I hope everyone gets a chance to try out this trend! It is so fun, chic, and perfect for summer!

Grammys: Oh No, You Did Not Just Steal My Outfit!

Both Julianne Hough and Lea Michele looked stunning in Malandrino gowns. Lea Michele rocked the look at the 2010 SAG awards and Julianne Hough wore the gown to the 2011 Grammys. I wonder if Julianne's stylist just forgot Lea Michele wore the dress in turquoise to the 2010 SAG awards, or if they thought nobody would notice because the dress was a different pattern.
Lea Michele
Julianne Hough

In my opinion, both ladies looked stunning. It is hard to choose a favorite, but by a nose I think Julianne is my favorite. I love the pink on her skin tone and her hair is absolutely gorgeous! Lea looked beautiful but I like Julianne's updo with the dress better that Lea's loose waves. But, of course Lea gets extra points for wearing the dress first!

Grammys: Is This a Halloween Party or an Award Show?

We saw a lot of costume style outfits on the red carpet this year. Sometimes costume outfits can look chic and really cute! But this year it seemed that those aspects of costume were for the most part lost.
 Rhianna
Most people thought Rhianna looked absolutely amazing. I love the shape of this dress by Jean Paul Gaultier, but the dress was way too revealing. Rhianna can pull off almost anything but not this. I wouldn't put this dress on the worst dress list, but it wouldn't be on my best dressed list either. I hope Rhianna keeps taking risks with her style, but taking risks doesn't mean dressing risqué.
 Katy Perry
I usually adore Katy Perry's costume like clothing, but tonight was an exception. I felt this was not fancy enough for the Grammys. The bedazzled bra looked very awkward and didn't work very well. The wings were cute, but they didn't feel chic, they felt tacky.
 Nicki Minaj
Nicki went a little too far with this outfit. I love the leopard trend, but head to toe (literally) leopard can get a little over whelming. I would have liked it more if there was some break in the leopard, possibly the legs or the arms. I thought her hair was really cool, but with the overpowering outfit it was way over the top!
Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga is always wearing crazy outfits. So it was no surprise when she arrived in a full out crazy way. Honestly, I wasn't impressed by her entrance. I love when Lady Gaga uses every day things and makes them into crazy outfits. But, since she was in the egg we couldn't see her. I thought the egg was a great statement for her new single "Born This Way" but it wasn't a fashion statement. During her performance she emerged in a plastic looking two piece outfit. This outfit just freaked me out a little. I know she was trying to look different and kind of alien like, but it was scary. I just found myself staring at her elbows and wondering what they did to make them that way. I loved the message of her outfits, but wasn't a fan of the actual fashion aspect of them.

Grammys: Worst Dressed AKA What Were They Thinking?

The Grammys is a night for celebrities to where designer clothes and look totally glamerous. Oh wait, that is every night for celebrities...But wearing a fantastic designer, doesn't always mean your outfit will be a show stopper. These celebrities, though i usually adore their outfits, didn't exactly achieve the goal of getting on the best dressed list, but instead ended up on the worst dressed.
 Amber Riley
I absolutely adored her dress to the SAG awards and love her outfits on Glee, but this dress (Ema Savahl)l...not so much. I think the painted on( yes that says painted on) detailing is too much and very overpowering. The detailing is also very abnormal and doesn't compliment her. The necklace cuts off her neck and make it look like she has none! I am also not a fan of her hair, just because the curls are weirdly shaped and make her head look very square. I thought her makeup was very classy though and i liked the simple black pumps.
Miley Cyrus
Miley oh Miley...what have you done. I thought this outfit was a bit of a disaster. She tryed to fit too much into one outfit which doesn't work here. The accesories are too much with the heavily patterned dress (made by Roberto Cavalli). There was also a bit of a wardrobe malfunction going on when she was talking to Ryan Seacrest. I think that if the dress was taken in a little, she wore way less bracelets, and took out her extensions then she would have a good outfit.

Kim Kardashian
Usually Kim can pull off the overly sexy sparkly look, but tonight I was not loving (though I have to admit, I usually am not). This dress (Kaufman Franco) did not compliment her figure and made her look a little "hoochy". The silhouette is far to revealing and the bright gold sparkles are very overwhelming. I thought her hair and makeup looked amazing, but her dress was just too much...errr too little.

In the next part of my Grammy analysis I will be talking about the people who seemed to be arriving for a costume party and not an award show. Surprisingly, there was a heck of a lot of people who seemed to think that Grammys is a synonym for Halloween. Stay tuned and stay ForeverStyleStruck!

Grammys: Best Dressed

There was a lot of beautifully dressed ladies and lads at the Grammys. There were also some...not so beautifully dressed ladies and lads. For this post I am going to be focusing on the best dressed ladies of the night. I am not going to lie, men's fashion doesn't really intrigue me like women's fashion, so for the most part this blog will be focused on women's fashion. In upcoming posts I will be focusing on the worst dressed, the copycats, and the people who got the Grammy's confused with Halloween.

Jennifer Lopez
Jennifer looked amazing in her sparkly pucci dress. The dressed fit like a glove and was definitely a highlight of the night. You would think a sparkly dress, shoes, and clutch would be a little much, but the different textures tone it down and make it very wearable. The only change i would make to this dress would be to make it just a little longer. Though Jennifer has amazing legs, the dress is a little revealing.
Jennifer Hudson
The Jennifers are just pulling out all the stops for the Grammys! When I saw this I fell immediately in love.  The silhouette is amazing on this Versace dress. I love how it flows down in layers. The navy blue color really compliments her skin tone and looks absolutely stunning. Oh and her hair? absolutely amazing. The extensions look great on her!!

Selena Gomez
Can you believe she is only 17? Selena looks very elegant and graceful in her beautiful J Mendel dress. The dress is very simple and makes her look very mature, but it is also very age appropriate. Her hair looked effortless and her makeup looked very natural (a very good thing in my book!). My favorite part of her look? Her beyond gorgeous shoes by Brian Atwood. Can I snag those and wear them every day for the rest of my life?
Katy Perry's Grammy!
By far the best dressed at the Grammys was....the Grammy! Katy Perry brought her grandma to the Grammy's for her 90th birthday and I personally thought she looked adorable in Armani. The contrasting grays looked very chic and really complimented her hair. My favorite part of this fashionista grandma's outfit was definitely her blinged out cane! The cane was the perfect finishing touch to her outfit and perfectly matched Katy's bra (yikes!).

Some of you might be surprised not to see Rhianna on my best dressed list. But, unlike the majority of people, I was not a fan of her outfit. I will have more on her dress in an upcoming post! Stay tuned and stay ForeverStyleStruck!

Currently Obsessed: Alexander Wang Coco Duffel

This bag is the definition of foreverstylestruck. I have been so obsessed with this bag ever since I scrolled past it on my tumblr. It is truly the essence of a perfect bag. It is edgy, simplistic, and oh so chic. I could go on obsessing over this piece for ages. Alexander Wang is truly a genius. I'm not the only one who thinks this too. Tons of celebs have been sporting the duffel lately.
 Kristin Cavallari
 Mary-Kate Olsen
Ashley Tisdale

Mondo

If you watch Project Runway then you know who Mondo is. He is the short and spunky man who designs beautiful clothing with crazy patterns and colors. He is also the designer that in my opinion should have won Project Runway. His clothes are fun, colorful, and wearable (well...maybe not all together). They are in one word....inventive.

SAGAwards

Everyone got decked out for the SAGAwards. Whether it was a hit or miss, they went all out.

All the Glee Woman looked amazing! But I thought two of them looked especially elegant.
Lea Michele

Heather Morris

The Girls of 30 Rock also looked beautiful in red.
Tina Fey
I thought the red looked amazing against her pale skin and her low side bun is very chic.
Katrina Bowden
I absolutely adore the clip on the dress. The neckline is also very sliming on her.

Let's not forget Sarah Hyland from one of my favorite shows Modern Family!
Sarah Hyland
The Blood Orange trend in action! I also love her hair! So beautiful!

Now for my personal favorite look of the night...
Mila Kunis
The flowiness of the dress is stunning and perfect for the red carpet! I also the watercolor pattern of the dress. The black in the dress looks amazing with her hair color. This look is amazing all around!

Trends: Blood Orange

Before I ramble on about the newest color in fashion, I want to explain what I will be doing with my posts. I will be having mainly two types of posts. The first type is just individual posts that will not be connected to others in any way. The other is that I will be doing series of posts. Meaning all the posts in one series will go under a category. For example I will be doing trend updates, like this one! If this is confusing now i promise it will not be in the future!

The runways are constantly colorful. Different designers have different color schemes for different seasons. But this season there has been a theme. Blood Orange was everywhere for the spring 2011 collections. It is definitely the color of the moment!

Cacharel Spring 2001
Red and blood orange go amazing together! I love warm colors together, they feel perfect for summer. Personally, when I am wearing warm colors I feel bright and happy!

J. Mendel Spring 2011
All blood orange! Even her lip color! The silhouette of the skirt is beautiful and the shirt perfectly follows the minimalist trend.

Tory Burch Spring 2011
The flowy silhouette is very sophisticated. The shirt flows right into the skirt which is a big thing for runways.

The great thing about this color is that it looks great on every skin tone! As seen with these pictures it will not wash anyone out or make them look bad. Three totally different skin tones are shown in these pictures and blood orange looks great on all of them!

I can't wait to buy some blood orange accents for my wardrobe and I can't wait to see the city streets full of warm and bright colors!

Tumblr

For those of you who do not know I also have a tumblr. I started out on tumblr not knowing that it is really only for posting 1 picture at a time, or very short posts. I decided I should start a blogspot because I wanted to incorporate both pictures and words which just does not work on tumblr. I will still post on tumblr because I have developed a love for reblogging artsy photos and beautiful outfits. If you are interested in looking at just pictures I would love for you to check out my tumblr.

http://foreverstylestruck.tumblr.com

It is also called Forever Style Struck because well...I am not very creative and when I thought of that name I was beyond excited! I have become very fond of the name and somewhat attached.

Hopefully you will check out my tumblr and follow both on here and on that one! I really appreciate it!

High School Fashion

The one thing I really don't like about high school fashion is that when you walk down the hallway you see the same thing, over and over again. It is basically all Abercrombie, Hollister, Juicys, and Uggs. The real problem I have with this is that a lot of the people wear these clothes, but they don't really seem to be happy in them. A lot of the time I talk with people and they say they are afraid to wear something different. No one should ever feel nervous to wear the clothes they want to. For me, clothes are a way to express myself and be unique. I think everyone should feel like that. Every once in a while I will see someone who isn't necessarily wearing clothes I totally adore. But, these people stick out to me because they have such a unique style and I absolutely love that! A lot of people feel that High School is a time where it is the best to blend in and fit in, but that isn't the case! High school is a time to find out who you are, not to find out who everyone else is and copy them. I hope that no one will ever feel like they need to buy a clothing item, just because everyone else has it. I hope that people will find their true self and incorporate that into their style.
“For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.”

Every Journey Needs a Beginning

If you happened to stumble upon this blog hopefully you love fashion as much as I do. Hopefully, you love the hunt to find your personal style. That is what this is about. Fashion, trends, style, and individuality. As we go on this journey together finding a look that screams "Me". Of course my style is probably different from yours and yours different from mine. But, that doesn't mean we can't learn from each other.

Just Remember...
